SAMUEL ALLIS

I'm Samuel Allis, a father and the local business owner of Hemlock's Books and Coffee.

I would make a great advocate for the people of the Richmond Valley. Casino was my local big smoke for about 10 years while I lived in Tabulam, and I have called Woodburn home for 5 years.

My job is connecting with locals, helping to empower the community spirit, and encouraging virtue through reading and connection.

I believe the job of the local government is to put people first, prioritise their health and well-being, as well as the vitality of the bush, the rivers, farms, and local business.

I want to see our towns beautiful, our communities with a voice, our rivers healthy, and our industry strong. We need lower living costs and better community services.

The values and policies I will be fighting for are community consultation; the people of the Richmond Valley have the right to be involved and informed. River health, for our fishermen and children who play there.

We need more mental health services to keep our communities safe, and I will push to increase the beauty and attraction of our town with more public art and bike trails, and spaces for families to enjoy and be proud of.

But most of all, I want to work for you. You all know where I work, and I strongly encourage everyone to let me know what they want for the future of our towns and our children.

KYLIE MAUNDER

Yamandhu marang, my name is Kylie Maunder and I’m a proud Wiradjuri woman, blessed to be living breathing and learning on Bundjalung country for most of my life.

I grew up in a small village outside of Casino and have experienced first-hand the lack of supports and infrastructure for regional communities.

My background has been in Community Services in Disability, Family support, Aboriginal Engagement, Reconciliation and Aboriginal Leadership roles.

My goals and passions are educating and inspiring the broader community through culture, closing the gap on education, health, and support healing through connection.

I would like to see more spaces for youth voices across the Richmond Valley and path the way for our next leaders. I am part of many communities across the Northern Rivers and currently working in government for the Aboriginal Languages Trust.

I hope to incorporate First Nations perspectives and knowledge, particularly when it comes to tourism and Land Conservation.

I would like to see RVC’s footprint, one to inspire other Shires on meaningful change.
